Recently, the 5th International Green ZeroCarbon Festival and 2026 ESG Summit were held in Shanghai. Backed by its robust sustainability framework and solid ESG practices, Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group (“YRPG” or “the Group”) secured two major honors. The Group was named a "2026 Model Enterprise for Sustainable Development", while its case study Building a Circular-Chain System to Lead Green Pharmaceutical Manufacturing — YRPG Sets a CircularEconomy Benchmark for the Pharmaceutical Industry won the "2026 Outstanding ESG Case Award". These accolades represent further authoritative recognition of YRPG’s greendevelopment capabilities and industry demonstration value.

Pursuant to China’s "Dual-Carbon" strategic deployment, YRPG has deeply embedded the sustainability philosophy into its overarching corporate strategy. It has rolled out the "CARING" sustainability strategy spanning six dimensions such as climate action, pharmaceutical access and R&D innovation, facilitating in-depth integration of the Group’s high-quality development and industrial green transition. In December 2025, the Group was awarded an A-rating in an authoritative ESG evaluation.
Winning the "2026 Outstanding ESG Case Award" for this circular-economy case stands as compelling testament to YRPG’s in-depth engagement and systematic innovative practices in pharmaceutical circular economy. Grounded in the features of pharmaceutical production, the Group has released YRPG Technical Guidelines for Circular Economy and YRPG Implementation Plan for Circular Economy. Adhering to the principles of reduction, reuse and recycling, YRPG systematically promotes circular-economy initiatives and builds a closed-loop resource-utilization system, aiming to emerge as a benchmark for full-process green manufacturing across the pharmaceutical sector.

In its practical implementation of circular economy initiatives, YRPG is fully committed to building four closed-loop green recycling systems covering materials, water, steam and electricity. On the materials front, the Group pursues both source reduction and end-of-life recovery. By optimizing manufacturing processes and product packaging, it substantially cuts consumable consumption and efficiently recovers production materials and solid waste resources. From 2024 to 2025, the comprehensive utilization rate of solid waste reached 95.77 %, delivering remarkable resource-recycling outcomes and economic benefits. For water resources, a full-lifecycle cascading circulation system has been established, saving an average of 182,500 tons of fresh water annually. In thermal energy management, a complete thermal recycling system is formed through waste-heat recovery, condensate reuse, energy-saving boilers, biogas boilers and interconnected steam pipe networks, achieving approximately 60,000 tons of annual CO₂ emission reductions and securing special government support. On the power side, YRPG has deployed photovoltaic power generation, sewage-based power generation, green power consumption, grid coordination, energy storage and AI-driven energy-saving management and control. This enables on-site generation and self-consumption of clean energy alongside intelligent dispatching, effectively lowering production energy consumption and operational costs.
The coordinated operation of these four systems creates a full-chain green-manufacturing ecosystem and delivers a replicable circular-economy model for the pharmaceutical industry. Going forward, guided by its “CARING” strategy, YRPG will keep contributing to the high-quality and sustainable development of the pharmaceutical sector.
As reported, this edition of the International Green Zero-Carbon Festival was co-hosted by Syobserve and Gongyidaily together with multiple domestic media outlets. Under the theme “Pursuing Green Development for a Shared Zero-Carbon Future”, the event brought together hundreds of enterprises to explore pathways for green and low-carbon growth.
